Depression is a huge word that people use very often nowadays. If you are sad, they term it depression. But no! Medically, the definition of depression has a criteria that needs to be fulfilled to term as depression.
Nevertheless, how to overcome depression? The most common question that has been searched over the internet nowadays. Here are a few tips that can help you find a way out of your depressed state.

1) First, acknowledge what made you depressed. It could be anything. Losing a loved one or financial crisis or anything.
But keep in mind that life is all about ups and downs. If you lost something valuable, you have the right to mourn over it. You have the right to dwell in grief. But, at the same time, do not forget that your life is still in your hands. You have to move on at any cost. Let your mind and soul process grief in its own pace, but always remember to start the process of moving on simultaneously.

2) After acknowledging, and preparing the process of moving on, you will have to find ways to stop your mind from dwelling on the same thought again and again. Life has given you a pause, not a full stop. Press the play button again. Initially, it will be full of hesitancy and doubts. It is okay. Keep going. If the previous loss was because of a mistake, try not to repeat the mistake. Be cautious. If the previous loss has nothing to do with any action of yours, then first acknowledge that. Somethings cannot be controlled.

3) Find ways to cheer yourself up.

4) Seek professional help before it’s too late.

5) Surround yourself with your loved ones. If you feel comfortable, talk to them about how you feel. You do not need consolation or validation from them. Just let them listen to you when you vent out.

6) Your life is not over there. There are still people out there who need you. So move on for them. You cannot lose yourself because of something that has happened in the past.
