In a quiet forest, there was a smart woodpecker named Willow. Willow loved helping others and was very kind.
One morning, a sneaky weasel named Walter came up to Willow. Walter liked to play tricks on others to get what he wanted.
“Hello, Willow!” said Walter. “I know where there are lots of yummy berries in the far part of the forest. Let’s go together!”
Willow thought about it. She knew that part of the forest was very dangerous. “Thank you, Walter,” she said, “but I’ll stay here. I have plenty to eat right here.”
Walter was disappointed his trick didn’t work. He wanted Willow to get lost so he could take her food!
Just then, a little worm crawled by and cried, “Help! I’m lost!” Right away, Willow flew down and helped the worm find his way home.
Walter watched Willow being kind, and he felt bad for trying to trick her. “Maybe I should be kind like Willow,” he thought.
From then on, Walter decided to be helpful, just like Willow. Soon, everyone knew him as a good friend who helped others.
Moral: It’s better to be kind than to play tricks.
