Sammy the Squirrel loved to explore the forest.
While searching for nuts, Sammy found a shiny stone under a big tree.
The stone sparkled in the sunlight, and Sammy thought it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.”I must keep this stone!” Sammy said to himself, feeling proud of his new treasure.
He carried it everywhere and showed it to his friends.
Sammy was too busy admiring the stone to gather food,so he couldn’t find as many seeds or nuts to store for winter. One day, Sammy’s friend, Sally the Sparrow, flew by and saw Sammy sitting sadly with his stone.
“Why do you look so unhappy, Sammy?” she asked.”I have this beautiful stone, but now I don’t have enough food for winter,” Sammy sighed.
Sally thought for a moment and said, “Why don’t you share the stone with the other animals? Maybe they feel happy and help you in gathering food.Sammy hesitated at first, but then realized Sally was right. He didn’t need the stone as much as he needed food.He called his friends and shared the shiny stone with them. Everyone admired it,
Soon, they all started working together to gather food for the winter.
By the end of the season, Sammy had plenty of seeds, and his friends had helped him even more because he had shared the stone.
Moral: Sharing with others brings more happiness than holding onto things for yourself.
