I am science teacher in government school. My student Manju had six sisters. Manju’s family was my next door neighbour. Manju and her sisters were very fond of wearing new #dresses. My neighbour Mrs Gupta(Manjus mother) was also fond of buying dresses for her dear daughters. But some how she was in habit of collecting good dresses for her daughters. She will not let her daughters wear those beautiful dresses. My neighbour daughters used to #complain to me for wrong doing of their respected mother.
One day I said “Mrs Gupta please let girls enjoy their dresses now. Who knows about their future.”
Mrs Gupta had her own reply, she said ” madam at the time of marriage of each daughter we being parents of daughter have to give many beautiful dresses to our daughter and ladies of groom family, thaswhy I am collecting the dresses for same.”
Other day I happen to meet Manju in a market. She said “madam dresses my mother collected for giving me for my wedding are out of fashion now. Therefore all collections of dresses which my mother did are of no use to me.”
I felt sorry for my neighbour Mrs. Gupta and her daughters. I did realise social pressures are very difficult to handle.
Moral -One needs extra courage to face social pressures of society. Some social pressures are very killing and they have no scientific bases also.
