**Afraid of True Love**
Funny how mirrors work,
I stare at you while you reflect me—
my sentiments, my emotions,
even the way you jumped out of that plane
just to show you love me in every way.
I was afraid of what you’d think
if I lost my way to love.
Back then, I was confused, couldn’t trust
whether your words were truth or trap,
set to catch me at the last second,
where you’d laugh, “Just kidding.”
So I held my arms at my sides and smiled,
only in case, maybe, sorta,
hoping you truly meant what you said.
But no one else ever revealed
the traits I worked so hard to project.
You proved it,
You grew it,
watered and pruned these scraps,
your nurturing hands on fragile leaves,
praying I might sprout
to reach your sunlit days.
