Being a literature student I always adored reading specifically the classic novels like Pride and Prejudice,Jane Eyre,Wuthering heights and many more including shakespeare and Lord Byron and then there were some 20th century classics like The Great Gatsby and Gone with the wind.If you are a lover of literature I am sure these names sounds very familiar to you. Now I Consider myself an aesthete, I always end up looking for something that is related to literature or art in order to feed my hungry soul with something more fulfilling and when I am tired of reading I search for movies that will give me that kind of soothing sense and make me go in a trance.Today I am gonna talk about one of them and the name of that masterpiece is “Midnight in paris”.It is the best movie for the one who wants to get inspired for writing.
If you are someone who wants to write or you already love to write, this movie might make you fall in love with writing on a deeper level and most certainly with Paris.
Midnight in Paris seems like a love letter to Paris by Woody Allen in the1920s and it is the best of both worlds kind of situation in this movie.It portrays humorous comedy and a lingering sense of nostalgia. “Midnight in Paris” revolve around Gil (Owen Wilson), a Hollywood script writer, An author who dreams of writing a meaningful novel and even when he has already penned down the whole novel he is afraid to show it to anyone for reviews cause he thinks that no one from this era will actually understand the depth of it.As an admirer of art and lover of Paris. While in Paris with his fiancée Inez (Rachel McAdams) and her parents,One night after partying he goes on a stroll alone,Gil discovers a spot where there is a big town clock and he sits there and goes into deep thinking and all of sudden when clock strikes 12 in the midnight a car arrives with a group of people who are dressed in an old fashion way and takes him with them.To his surprise that car takes him back to 1920s Paris at midnight. Gil goes on this Magical trip of a lifetime, where he hangs out with the Great artists of all the time like Ernest Hemingway, T.S Eliot,F. Scott Fitzgerald,Pablo Picasso,Salvador Dalí, Gertrude Stein, and many more artists of that time.Oh! I can only dream to meet them all.
“Midnight in Paris” is like an aesthete dream, as Gil gets to spend his time with these legendary writers and artists he gets the opportunity to live in 20th century Paris.To be able to show his present work to the writers and the artist of the past is dream of every writer.To show your work to the one your work got inspired from wouldnt be less than a dream come true.So if you are willing to embark on a literary journey which is whimsical enough to bring out the writer within you.You most definitely should checkout this masterpiece.
