Iran’s foreign minister visits Egypt
Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, has arrived on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, as the first visit by a foreign minister of his country for almost 12 years, the state media said.
According to the AFP news agency, the last visit of Iran’s foreign minister to Egypt was that of Ali Akbar Saleni, in 2013 in Cairo. Araghchi, who is on several national tours, arrived in Cairo after visiting Jordan, when he met and talked with his colleague Ayman Safadi.
The two discussed regional development issues while “ was brutal and aggressive against Gaza and Lebanon”, according to Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeli Baghaei. Araghchi while in Jordan also met King Abdullah II in Amman.
Within the past week, Araghchi has visited Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman, as an effort to reduce tensions and control the Middle East conflict spreads. Later the leader will visit Turkey and Egypt according to his ministry.
