Amsterdam came with a policy to send poets in the funeral of those who were abandoned by humans and fate and were standing now in the death’s gate. The poets would write a poem on them with the bare minimum information they could get.
An effort to remember them one last time.
Reciting this poem on their final night
If our beloved country also thought to come up with such policy
But the first petition would have come from a
Man who would have been broke
What the official would do might give the broke man another stroke
The poem written on his name might not include the reason why he died
But the hospital knows for hours he had cried
His residence would have been changed from a slum to a flat
Even after knowing he couldn’t even afford a mat
But some day hearing this poem on his dead
The official would have felt overwhelming happiness
But the only thing poet could feel was emptiness.
The dead realized even after death no one wants to remember the poor
No wonder why it is called the lonely funeral.
