    LANTERN

Somewhere distant in a starry night sky
Amidst the twinkling stars and a full moon bright
    Floats a shimmering lantern
    So warm and tender
Lighting the souls of every vendor.

It floats above the swirling seas, the misty hills, the breezy plains, the narrow drains
It went through the clouds, higher and higher
Although its light was that of a fire.

Somewhere distant in a starry night sky
Gazing at the stars was an orphan boy
Searching for the ones who seemed to be lost
Ready to give up everything, whatever it cost.

Floating past the window, the lantern stops
The nameless boy, being completely shocked
He grasps the lamp and holds it still
Never wanting to release it , even if it was just a will.

A day passed and on the following night
The boy lits the lamp and holds it tight
The warmth reminded him that of his mother
The way she held him and the way she let go
Now he makes a wish to love and to be loved.

He holds the lamp and sets it free
To the open sky where his mother lives
Hoping it would reach her and tell what he misses.

Floating above the swirling seas and the misty hills
Amidst the twinkling stars and a full moon bright
    Theres’ a shimmering lantern
    So warm and tender
Lightning the souls of every sender.
