Prologue
Four hundred years after World War III a new way of ‘life’ has been born. Centuries ago, man did what men do and began the war that ended most of life on earth. Men make mistakes, a big mistake for example would be releasing a colossal amount of nuclear missiles without a thought to what these missiles would do after the war was ‘won’. Intense radiation overtook the whole of the earth and killed all life in its path, every single man on earth and barely any women were led to safety in under-ground bunkers where they spent the next two hundred years waiting for the earths surface to be habitable again. The women left behind however, left above ground to die a painful, radiation soaked death, they evolved. They mutated.
Their genes had to change in order to survive the harsh life above ground and with these changes came gifts. Females who didn’t die of radiation developed power that could spilt the ground open, command the waves to their will, command men to their will, do whatever you could possible imagine, and so they became gifted.
Finally, the men emerged from their holes in the ground with their automated weapons and their minds that only generated thoughts of carnage and chaos and they learned of what happened to those women they left for dead. They learned of the power they unknowingly created, and their greed couldn’t be stopped. Women were hunted, chained, killed and controlled all for a power they didn’t ask for, a power they earned. The men fought once more for land, this time with weapons far more efficient then missiles. With gifted women under their control the men split the earth into four major regions of power.
Dunamis – the urban civilisation that holds the greatest power, the heart of the earth with the brightest minds and strong fighters, owners of the majority of land and significant might.
Willowmere – the civilisation that gains their vast amounts of wealth through the ‘old ways’ of cultivation of crops and cattle.
Throsnia – the civilisation of War that makes most use of their forests and trains their insurmountable army in a cover of dooming green.
Aridos- the desert civilisation that faces the harshest climates and worst conditions, the survivors, always on the move and known for their trade.
Aria Valestride of Aridos, learns the reality of greed as soon as she hits her thirteenth birthday. The day of celebration only services as a warning of what her life will look like if anyone learns of her power. Five years later a tracker groups happens upon her tribe and Aria is ripped away from all she loves, ripped away and dragged off in the terrifying hands of Ryker Hale.
