The solar system consists of the Sun and its family of celestial bodies, including planets, moons, asteroids, and comets, all bound together by gravity. The eight recognized planets in our solar system, in order of their distance from the Sun, are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
