During school time, when I was in twelfth class, COVID 19 had caused the closure of schools. We had managed to complete our pre-board exams in person, but just as the board exams approached, we were informed they’d been canceled.

I cried a lot. I had already revised for my exams four times by then and that's when my grandmother said to me, "Learning never goes to waste!" Her words have stayed with me ever since. An online friend of mine, hearing about the cancellation, messaged me saying, “So now what? You studied so much, and now there’s no exam!”

I told her, "Hard work always pays off."

Her response was sarcastic, as you’d expect—“Haha, I know!”

But when the results came, and I was my school topper with 99.75%, two things actually became true, "Learning never goes waste", I had got a good result and that "Hard-work always pays off!"

That same friend later congratulated me, saying, “I never believed in hard work or any of that, but yes, it did pay off!”

My intent of sharing this incident was to enlighten on the fact that there are times in life when we are at our lowest, when everything seems to not work out. There’s a gap between our expectations and reality, and no matter how hard we try, it can feel like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. For times like those, my message for you all is to stay calm and patient, because if you have worked for it, then sooner or later you're going to get it.

Your efforts, your hard work, and your sleepless nights—they will all be worth it. Trust that the outcome will be beautiful. Have patience, have sabr, and know that in the end, it will all come together.

PS: that online friend was later deleted from my life because she had many complexes to deal with and always initiated fights. All well that ends well.
