Google in January 2018, told that speed is a deciding factor when you have to do search results and open pages, and would be major player in SEO.
That is why Google decided to use Page Speed more aggressively to rate pages. It was teased in January and has started rolling out now.
Though Google would prefer pages with better speed, but it can be that if you have really great content, which is relevant to search terms then it may show up in list.
