How Good Artist Copy, Great Artists Steal: Steve Jobs

Good artists copy, great artists steal. It is totally true. Steve Jobs always had a style of using metaphors in his quotes. And this is same.

What it basically means is that a good painter will copy a beautiful scene or may be a good sunset. And when i say this, most of us can imagine what painting would like, because he is copying a peace of nature. And how good a artist is, can be be determined by how well he copied

But on a other hand, a great artist will paint a scenery never imagined. He will create something wonderful and amazing, that people couldn’t think off.

This can be a piece of wood also, but he will find a beauty in it, that will be reflected in paintings. He will be not literally be stealing it, but he will be just changing a perspective over how a ordinary thing can look beautiful. Now lets see how we can apply it in real life. And how Steve Jobs did it. There have been many allegations Of BillGates copying Steve Jobs’ idea of Graphic User Interface or GUI for Apple. Bill Gates did not copy Steve Jobs idea. Rather Steve Jobs himself had copy the idea of GUI. But it history most people know Steve Jobs

Bill Gates stated in this context as follows, “Well, Steve, I think there’s more than one way of looking at it. I think it’s more like we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it.”

How did Bill Gates steal Steve Jobs’ Idea: Mystery Revealed

Steve Jobs in Development of First Macintosh in 1984

The idea of GUI was developed by Xerox, but Steve Jobs stole the idea, and did it really well. To the extent that most considers Apple as the first company to develop GUI. That is why he was a good artist. But Bill Gates later copied his idea so he is only a good artist. Now here i call Steve Jobs’ work as stealing, because before him, no one truly saw the potential. GUI, was the piece of wooden log, that no one cared about, and Steve Jobs made it great. After Steve Jobs had shipped PC with it, and world saw it. They realised that it was beautiful like a sunset. This was because in course of time, it developed into something everyone admired. And then Bill Gates copied it. Steve Jobs made a wooden log beautiful, but Bill Gates, made a sunset scene for himself.(which was already beautiful)

Story is that Actually Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were invited to #Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in 1980’s where they showed up revolutionary idea of GUI, Internet and Mouse, Steve got enlightened and got to develop it. Bill didn’t got much into it and later when he realized it’s potential he went into developing it

And now whole of the industry runs on Graphic user interface. Steve Jobs was good at realizing potential of newer technologies. Xerox could have governed the whole of computer industry but they missed the #opportunity. Steve Jobs had already taken there idea so Bill Gates didn’t stole anything from Steve Jobs. Because it was the idea of Xerox.
