European Union Clears off Apple’s $400 Million acquisation of British Service Shazam
In December 2017, Apple’s acquisition for Music service Shazam to compete Spotify was paused by European Union.
After the #announcment of deal, many countries along with organizations questioned over the deal causing anti-competition in #music industry, mainly to competitor like #Spotify
Others presented concern over #Apple getting hold of sensitive information also
As a result, #EuropeanUnion went into investigation, they realized that it was not the case. “After thoroughly analyzing Shazam’s user and music data, we found that their acquisition by Apple would not reduce competition in the digital music streaming market,” EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.
“Data is key in the digital economy. We must therefore carefully review transactions which lead to the acquisition of important sets of data, including potentially commercially sensitive ones,” she added.
The investigation hapoened actively after April, over concern that #Apple may acquire a data rich company to gain edge over other, but later as it becomes clear Apple has cleared off for the deal.
Apple gets back into negotiations of the acquisition of the Music recorganization service. Though as the things reinitate it would take period of next few months for the exact deal to be finalized and the transfer along with paper work to happen
Apple may use the sound recorganization to improve #Siri, or may be there Music store or what not
One thing interesting to see would Apple do of Shazam on Google Play store. It is quite popular app on the store. It is quite known that Apple liles to keep tall walls of its apps from other platforms.
It would be really nightmare for all music interested people in world.
As far as deal is concerned the broader vision seems to be competing against #Spotify and other services.
