Every once in a while a revolutionary idea comes that changes everything. Not just a minor difference a radical shift in thought process, a way in which people work, a way in people think of various things. And people are unable to understand the potential of any new idea at the time it was born

The idea that we are presenting today is of #invisibility cloak. We believe that this is similar to the greatest ideas of all times.This is what the aviation was in 1900s. The idea that we present today is what the Rock-n-Roll was in 1950s. The power of Internet on which we rely today was underestimated at the time of its birth in 1980s. The calibre of smartphones was not understood until the first iphone in late 2000s. And this what in 2030s people would look at and say was the invisibility cloak.

This is revolutionary idea to impact 3 distinct industries in a manner that was never imagined, even though this technological wonder is yet in development and it would still take years to reach to practicality, but we believe that this demonstration that we present to you today, at which many scientists have been working. This is something that we believe is the biggest thing of 21st century. Somewhere our posterity would look at and say this was rock-n-roll then smartphone and then this was the invisibility cloak that we are presenting today

Invisible ammunition and forces to camouflage them from enemy, when they can’t see you then they can’t take action, and you have a

extra edge over the competition, it would be too late by the time they are able to see you.

Improve transportation industry to hide walls of car while reversing, or make the floor of plane invisible while landing in tough situations. Saving many lives and make the travel more safe and secure.

While surgery make some part invisible for easily reaching the relevant part visible easily. The whole idea is pretty dreamy, and we agree it is far from reaching into our lives anytime soon. But here today we demonstrate a ‘beta’ version.

This is a really simple yet amazing project. It uses 4 lenses to control light in such a way that it renders an object invisible. When the light enters the first lens, it flips the image upside down. The second lens sends the light straight into the 3rd #lens. The 3rd lens focuses the light into a point about 3 inches past the lens. Since the light is focused into a point, any object placed around that point cannot be seen when looking through the lenses. The light is essentially bending around the object. Once the light hits the point just past the 3rd lens, it then flips back right side up. This allows the background image to pass through all of the lenses without warping or being seen as inverted.

The idea is pretty simple that it bends the light past the object such that the light does not get obstructed

“There’ve been many high tech approaches to cloaking and the basic idea behind these is to take light and have it pass around something as if it isn’t there, often using high-tech or exotic materials,” said #JohnHowell, a professor of physics at the University of Rochester. Forgoing the specialized components, Howell and graduate student #JosephChoi developed a combination of four standard lenses that keeps the object hidden as the viewer moves up to several degrees away from the optimal viewing position.

Originally from Wales, John did a degree at the University of Cardiff, followed by a PhD at the University of Birmingham. He then spent 10 years in the University of Liverpool as a researcher and junior faculty member working with the StratGroup.

During that time he worked in the Department of Earth Sciences and UniCIPR where he founded the Virtual Outcrop Geology Group. He was also one of the founders of Rocksource ASA an independent Norwegian E&P Company, where he worked in senior management for 6 years.

In the past 25 years he has worked on outcrops from all over the World with special focus on the western USA. He has supervised over 30 PhD students, published more than a 130 papers and edited 5 books. He currently runs the SAFARI project, a collaboration between University of Aberdeen and Uni Bergen supported by 13 companies. Over the past 15 years he has pioneered the use of Virtual Outcrops, collected using lidar and more recently UAVs (drones), in the geosciences.

“This is the first device that we know of that can do three-dimensional, continuously multidirectional cloaking, which works for transmitting rays in the visible spectrum,” said Choi, a PhD student at #Rochester Institute of Optics.

Now how do we put it into context, of wars, transport, medical.

Warfare: It can be the next breakthrough in warfare. Camouflage, the basic ideas is to get the advantage of element of surprise when we attack. The world is progressing at a rate which signs that another world war will occur, and, we won’t have to wait for a century for that.

Now it may be that the enemy can spot us via radar, and maybe a 100% invisibility is not possible, but in time of war it shall definitely confuse our enemies. Where there is nothing in front of you and radar warns of enemy, it shall definitely give an extra edge.

While Driving we often stumble across situations where we have to drive from narrow regions, there is always a probability of accident or bumping into the wall, if we can make the car walls invisible or may be partially visible it is quite possible that we give better view and prevent accident we may save some money at some repair work for your car. This is always a better option.     

Or may be in aircrafts it can be used to hide the floor so that it can assist the pilots while navigating, can use it to navigate and align there aircraft according to runway, as they get a better field of you.

Neuroscientists have discovered that optical illusions tell us a lot about the way the human brain perceives the business world: the brain doesn’t passively– and faithfully– report what it sees. Rather our brains create reality on the fly, based upon educated guesses about what is probably out there. The reason is that it takes much less processing power, and burns many fewer calories, for the brain to crudely sketch out what it sees based on a few simple rules such as “shapes that appear fragmented usually aren’t, so fill in the gaps”, than it does for the brain to rigorously process and compute complete and accurate pictures. Such shortcuts not only conserve energy (our brains consume 20% of our daily calorie usage), but speed up decision making.
