It was a rainy afternoon.
The college corridors were flooded with students running for shelter, laughter echoing against the wet walls. Aarohi, balancing her books awkwardly, was trying to escape the rain when her foot slipped slightly on the marble floor.
Before she could hit the ground, a strong hand caught her arm.

"Careful!" came a familiar voice.
She looked up — and it was Vivaan.
For a second, Aarohi thought she was dreaming. His hand still held her, steadying her gently. She could see droplets of rain caught in his hair, his eyes filled with genuine concern.
"You okay?" he asked, his voice softer now.
Aarohi, stunned, nodded shyly.
"Y-yes. Thank you," she managed to whisper.
Vivaan smiled, that same boyish grin that made her heart race.
"You should be more careful, especially on days like this," he chuckled, releasing her hand slowly, almost reluctantly. "Do you need help?"
Aarohi shook her head, feeling her cheeks warm.
"I'll manage," she said, clutching her books tighter.
Vivaan gave a small nod but lingered for a second longer than necessary. Then, with a final reassuring smile, he walked away, blending into the crowd.
But for Aarohi, time had frozen.
Her heart pounded wildly against her chest. She replayed the moment again and again in her mind — his touch, his concern, the way he looked at her like she mattered.
That tiny incident changed something within her.
The fear she felt earlier — of other girls, of being unseen — faded a little.
For the first time, she dared to believe, "Maybe, just maybe, my story is not destined to end before it begins."
From that day onward, Vivaan started noticing her more.
Small glances exchanged in the classroom, casual smiles across the cafeteria, brief hellos in the library.
Every interaction, though tiny, built a bridge between two hearts that had always been too scared to meet.
Aarohi still didn’t have the courage to confess. But the hope in her heart bloomed brighter with each passing day.
Destiny had shifted its course.
And neither Aarohi nor Vivaan knew that soon, their lives were about to change forever.
