The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken an important decision for all banks and ATM operators across the country. Now special directives have been issued for not only 500 rupees notes from the ATM but also Rs 100 and 200 notes. Indeed, now when most transactions are online, many people still resort to ATMs to withdraw cash. Such people often suffer from a shortage of small notes. But with the new RBI decision, it will now be more convenient for the general public to withdraw cash, which is also necessary.
The central bank has given clear instructions that each bank and white label ATM operators have to make sure that a sufficient number of notes of Rs 100 and 200 are available in the ATM. According to the RBI circular, 75 per cent in ATM by September 30, 2025 and then by March 31, 2026, 90 per cent ATM must have a special cassette for Rs 100 or 200 notes. Thus, consumers across the country will get the right achievement of small notes, which will not only facilitate the transaction, but also provide great relief for daily needs.
When we talk about White Label ATM, it is a private managed ATM that does not run a government or a private bank but is operated by non-banking financial companies. From here too you can use cash, check or use all other components that are available in the general ATM.
ATM services will be expensive from May 1, increase transaction charge
Another big idea for cash withdrawal customers is that the use of ATMs from May 1, 2025 is going to be a bit expensive. If you use another bank ATM instead of your home bank, you will now have to pay extra charges. Indeed, so far, consumers had a charge of Rs 17 on each transaction to withdraw money from the ATM of another network, which will now increase to Rs 19. And if you use any other ATM balance check, the charge will also increase from Rs 6 to Rs 7.
This change has been followed by the proposal of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and approved by the RBI. So it is now necessary to choose the ATMs of their bank network with a little more carefully. This change will be required, but the costs will also increase for consumers
