Hello, thank you for taking the time to view my article. It’s lovely to have you here! Let’s get started.
Storytelling has a different meaning for everyone based on the manner in which it connects with them. My understanding of storytelling is that it is a way in which different kinds of narrations (these narrations could either be fictitious, based on a real-life event or might have shaped up to take inspiration from a real-life event), perspectives and opinions reach out to us. I am here to share my key learnings based on my observations around storytelling:

1. Diversity of interactions-I feel the storytelling process in itself involves a lot of diversity. Some stories involve a big group of people where any one person sits in the center of that group and narrates a story. On the other hand, some stories could also involve more than one storyteller narrating their separate stories one by one or they might choose to collectively narrate a single story to a large or a small group of people. This diversity in the storytelling process makes it even more creative, interactive and an engaging process.
2. Words and visuals-Some stories might utilize a verbal flow of communication, where a sequence of perspectives, interpretations and narrations are being orated to a respective group of people. Alternatively, another way could be a combination of both the words and visuals in order to further give a boost to the storytelling process. For example: Storytelling can also take place through mediums like a theatre play, poetry and songs, all of these could utilize the combination of both words and visuals in order to communicate the inherent message and to establish a greater connect with the target audience.
3. Format-Storytelling can follow a specific format. It can be in a structured order in which the narrator follows a specific set format. On the other hand, it can follow a free flow of narration. Some stories might also follow a combination of both a free flow and a specific format. The context of storytelling can also vary, some would comprise of a formal storytelling session, some would be in the form of an informal group of people telling stories to each other (such as in a setup like a family or a group of friends). The kind of format that we might connect with will be subjective and personalized for everyone.
4. Creating awareness-Storytelling can have a specific intent or a message to be conveyed by the respective storyteller. The purpose of this can be to create and generate awareness regarding a particular topic or an aspect. Hence, a particular storytelling narration can focus on structuring the flow as per the respective message to be conveyed to a specific group of people.
5. Medium to connect-I feel storytelling offers a unique way to connect with people and the sharing of different perspectives collectively further enhances that degree of connect. When we read, listen or hear a story, we somewhere find a common ground of understanding and also a wide range of experiences and life journeys. This also helps us to connect better with others as well as it also tries to understand our own selves in a much better manner. This makes the process of storytelling even more engaging and beautiful.
I feel storytelling and its process in itself is a very unique aspect. The best part about it is that there is no one particular way of storytelling and we can try to connect with the kind of storytelling that resonates with us the most. I also feel that we tend to remember those stories which connect with us deeply and give us an opportunity to cherish and appreciate the unique life paths of various people across the world. I feel engaging and being a part of a storytelling session could be a great way to enhance and nurture our existing knowledge base.
Thank you so much for your time. I will catch up soon and, in the meantime, wishing you a very pleasant day ahead!
