"She Stayed"
In a village where time moved slow,
And fate was stitched by elders’ hands,
She was just a girl of tender years,
Yet told to wed, to meet demands.
Schoolbooks closed at just class four,
But life would teach her volumes more—
Of pain and silence, night and day,

Of love that never walked away.
She bore the storms, the angry rain,
The bruises wrapped beneath the pain.
Not weak, but quiet—still and true,
She carried more than most could do.
Six children clung to her embrace,
A lighthouse in a shadowed place.
She stood her ground, though never loud,
A mother fierce, a woman proud.
We asked her once, "Why didn’t you flee?
Why not escape and set us free?"
She looked at us with tearful grace,
“I stayed for love… for your safe place.”
“I have no skills, no worldly pride,
But I had you all by my side.
He gave you school, I gave you heart,
Together you were my greatest art.”
And from her roots, we rose and soared—
A college cap, a lecture board.
One son now stands where knowledge grows,
Another learns where promise flows.
She wore her sorrow like a veil,
But in her eyes, she did not fail.
A woman made of earth and fire,
Of sacrifice, of fierce desire.
Though life was harsh, and hands were tied,
She stayed, endured, and never lied.
She held our world, come what may—
She is the reason we’re here today.
