Rain is already perceived as romantic. And for homely vibes, it calls for fritters along with a cup of tea and a cosy warm blanket.
But this rain brought me some insights and understanding beyond the cosy vibes and the fuzzy warmth of love and cuddles.
In the past week, two evenings brought changes in my perspective.
The few hours of thunderstorms accompanied with rain, followed by darkness and a time beyond network, just like how it had been a few years ago, felt like a chance.
A chance to connect with ourselves and people. With the phone's battery almost dying, at least I didn't have the courage to use it further apart from using flash and then followed by ultra saver mode. This gave a few hours to actually get bored and not get consumed with work. Not getting stimulated all the time was boring. But in today's days, getting bored is a privilege, I believe. We somehow have forgotten to actually just pass our time and be bored.
But this time, with the surrounding world dark and sounds of gushing winds amidst the roar of thunder, it was calming. Darkness sometimes can be a blessing. A time I spent just thinking everything yet nothing. Ironical. Being bored led to a flow of better ideas and enhanced creativity.
For me rain brings the opportunity to detach from everything and connect with ourselves that we somehow have left in today's tech-based lifestyle. The darkness brings perspective and understanding for me. A time of solace and a candlelight evening tea time with family. Also the importance of bowing down sometimes. Standing tall always may lead to downfall sometimes.
The dilemma of being grateful or feeling pity on ourselves.
The concept of practising gratefulness for what basic amenities we were deprived of just for a few hours is the life many people have spent their entire lives in, still thriving and actually being happy where we complain. Or the feeling of pity, as in the space where we are getting everything we are getting enslaved by technology and losing ourselves, where being bored seems a privilege and the people far away from plains and connectivity actually enjoy life in a simpler meaning.
The rain this time brought significant learnings.
