Hello, thank you for taking the time to view my article. It’s lovely to have you here! Let’s get started.

I feel our childhood experiences and the memories of the formative years of our lives play a major role in our overall life journey ahead. We all have unique and personalized experiences and as we grow up, we start to forget whatever fond memories we had due to the busy and fast pace of day-to-day life. As I started thinking about this, I suddenly recalled my own experience of being a part of the choir in my junior school (class 3 to class 5). I am here to share some of my observations based on my own self-reflection now as I recall based on memories regarding the same:

    1. Teamwork-The total number of children in the choir varied depending on their interests and the kind of music that they wanted to pursue.  I remember, we sometimes had extra practice sessions post the school, requiring us to stay back for almost an hour or more than that. The vocal choir group was made to collaborate with the musical instruments group in order to ensure complete coordination at the time of the respective performance session. This was a real-life example of working as a team, while ensuring collaboration and coordination in an efficient manner.

    2. Collectiveness-The practice sessions initially were a bit stressful due to pressure regarding the performance and the fact that we were already communicated the set expectations from the panel of music teachers. However, as all the students started coordinating and collaborating with each other there was some degree of collectiveness that was formed both within the vocal choir group as well as the instrumental music group. As I recall, this was one of the most beautiful realizations to cherish.

    3. Cherishing diversity-As every team or a group of people consists of different sets of people, with varying skills, qualities and temperaments, there is a great degree of diversity. This situation presents both opportunities for growth as well as various areas of development. As a child, there can be a feeling of being overwhelmed and a sense of mixed feelings. However, as I look back, there were some moments to cherish and learn from the diversity as well, which also makes it a unique experience.

    4. Leadership skills-There were four to five rows in total as a part of the choir and students were allotted their positions based on guidelines from the music panel as well as the kind of vocal music that was to be performed in the upcoming sessions. Since, the formation of the rows changed almost every two months, there was always an opportunity to interact with new set of students and identify one’s own leadership patterns as well as acknowledge the leadership patterns of other students.

I have observed that recalling some of the favorable moments from our earlier life journey can help us to enhance our motivation as well as help us cope to some extent with our ongoing challenges. Motivation sometimes does not follow the same set of motivators to uplift it and finding new ways can help us cope better and know some more about our own selves!

Thank you so much for your time. I will catch up soon and, in the meantime, wishing you a very pleasant day ahead!
