The photo you see above was taken earlier today in my hometown, Onești from Romania. It shows the muddy, inflated waters of a river crossing through the city after several days of constant rainfall.

While rain is generally a good things for crops and for the ground, the fact that it has been raining steadily for several days and the weather forecast indicates more rainy days to come is a reason of concern for me.

It takes me back in time 20 years ago when, after several days of heavy rainfall, the city streets were flooded. Luckily, the flood wasn't as big as we could see on the news in other parts of the world, and as far as I remember there were no casualties, but whenever the river starts swelling after several days with constant rainfall, I can't stop feeling a little worried.

The view and sounds of the inflated waters of the river serve to me as a reminder of the distructive force of nature to which man is powerless. While I haven't witnessed any major natural disaster yet(there was a big earthquake in the area, but I was only a few months old at the time), I think we should always be cautious and aware of our limitations when faced with the possibility of a catastrophe.
