One simple yet meaningful life lesson that I have received from my father is that quote: Extra time to deliver what you offer.
Yes, that's correct. For example, I offer a service that is article writing, and you know it will take 3 hours, so quote a time greater than what you may require, for instance, 4 hours. Get set to work and deliver the article within 3 hours. Clients are happy, so are you. But by chance if things don't go the way you planned, then still you have an extra hour with you.

Prevention is better than cure, and it helps maintain professionalism. Because at work, not everyone is bound to understand your dilemmas or the web of darkness engulfing you. On your service deadline, their next actions are preplanned. And nobody is obligated to understand and change their course of activities. Also, you face a setback when the client is not satisfied. Reputation and hard work of years both go down the drain just because of something that was unavoidable.
Hence, it's better to always quote an extra time and deliver timely. Rather than trying to impress by quoting less time and then failing.
