I remember as a young boy being reminded to think in a new box. It meant getting rid of one line of thought and thinking in another. But, did that set me apart from the pack? No!
Thinking in a new box means thinking within a given set of rules. It means discarding the old mindset and embracing a new one. Quite invigorating, right? Yes, until you realize the catch: there is a premeditated path for you to follow.

Creativity and innovation does not follow such a defined path though. It needs freedom to etch out a path of itself. Creativity is when my daughter uses a spoon to clip mud out of her shoes. Norm says she can't but here she is, inventing a new way to deal with mud.
I already see her making the biggest invention in the world, because she dares think in an eccentric way. If she were doing the normal stuff we do, following the same order of things, I'd expect some normal achievements for her.
The same is applicable for you too. If you continue to do the same things that have been there from independence, you will live a life of normal. A normal family, a normal 9-5 job, a decent car..... nothing outstanding. But if you want to live beyond the normal, you need to discard the traditional way of thinking.
It's time you quit jumping from one 'box' of thought to the other, and start thinking without one. Stop thinking like a common father, common farmer, teacher, engineer, actor..... Start thinking like yourself. Start solving problems your own way, investing your way, relating your way.
It's time to define success your own way, and pursue it your own way. Don't let others define what your future should look like, for you. Their path is their path, who said you need one? Remember, before there was a road, people used to trek through bushes, and they still reached their destination.
Don't let a path discourage you. you can still fly or traverse uncharted ground to reach your destiny. Carve out your own path and stick to it no matter what. Don't get into a new box, THINK WITHOUT A BOX!
