It's true guys.
I haven't gotten a full blown cold in over a year.
If you were like me, getting a cold 4 and 5 times a year, you're gonna want to read to the end.
They say when you have your kids in public school, it's basically signing up to get sick. And nothing was truer when it came to the cold.

What's strange too is I had all of us on vitamins but couldn't understand why our immune system couldn't keep fighting off these viruses. It was always inevitable that in flu season and out of flu season, we were all going to have the flu.
But that's at least normal to have flu druing flu season right?
Wrong.
Of course you know about the immune system and the stronger it is the more you're resistant to things like the flu. And I don't need to tell you either that the flu virus as well as other viruses are basically always in our system -- just dormant or inactive....until!
You did too much, so you're really tired, lapsed on your nutrition because you were busy and those viruses came out of remission and boom ...you've got the cold.
Well, then I'll be less busy or sleep more or keep up on my nutrition. Great that will work.
Buuuuut...
What do you do when you don't keep up with that for one reason or another?
Well...You'll be like I was...sniffling....stuffy...miserable....
Unleeeesssss...
Salt.
Yes. Adding sea salt to my drinking water has kept the flu away from me for over 12 months and counting.
Let me explain.
Time for a little chemistry and biology.
So, the chloride part of sodium (NaCl) actually breaks down and synthesizes into chlorine. Yes our body makes bleach: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4763953
This safe, little body bleach goes around and kills viruses that may have started to come out of remission...viruses like (drum roll please) the common cold /flu!
And that's what I did whenever I felt a cold coming on. You know, the little tickle in your throat. A persistent sneezing..sniffling of the nose. I would add a quarter teaspoon of salt to a 500 ml bottle of water and sip through out the day.

Symptoms gone. I kid you not.
Now, like in my disclaimer. This is what I DO. I am not a doctor. I'm just sharing what works for me.
You also don't want to take salt in excess if you have kidney disease or swelling problems as this will make you retain water etc. And you don't want to take salt without balancing it with potassium.
Just in case you didn't know, the body has a sodium=potassium pump thingey going on which basically means they have to stay in balance at a ratio of 2:1 approximately. Otherwise, too much sodium depletes potassium and we definitely need potassium for a lot of processes in the body.
But that brings me to another point, too much potassium will deplete sodium. There are huge amounts of potassium in veggies and such. And my family was eating alot of veggies with little salt in general in the food. And that's why (at least for us) we were getting the flu so much!
Hence, increasing our sodium intake significantly reduced the amounts of flus we experienced per year (none at all for me).
And there you have it...crazy simple huh? Who'd figure?
Well, hoped this helped and if you have any questions, leave a comment!
