Let us continue our journey through the beautiful landscapes of Bhutan.
The first day we stayed in a town called Pheuntsholing, which is a place that shares the border with India, as I have already said. Its terrain is almost similar to India, no wonder being the neighbours.

After a hectic day's travel, we needed some rest to recoup and prepare ourselves for the uphill journey to Thimbu for the next day. Our hotel in Pheuntsholing and the caretaker ladies there suitably provided that.

One peculiar thing we noticed throughout this trip was that the hospitality business was run by women in almost every place in Bhutan. The front office, support staff, and room service, everything. That was quite a surprise too.
After a good sleep and a tasty breakfast, we were ready the next morning to start to Thimbu. Our guide Tashi and driver Tensil were ready to go. After some permit approvals and paper clearance from the Immigration office at Pheuntsholing, we entered the vehicle provided by the travel agency.
A cool morning.
Gentle breeze. The excitement brimming in every inch. We were enjoying every bit of that beautiful land- The Land of Thunder Dragons!
The uphill journey got a companion soon enough, a soothing breeze laden with cold. Somewhere, the climate reminded us of Kodaikanal, except for the fragrance of eucalyptus.
As we were moving towards a mountain, we couldn't expect big shops on the way, but small outlets selling fruits and vegetables from the mountains. Even restaurants were too small, but always homely.
We could see prayer flags all along the route in multiple colours. We could collect water from the small springs on the way, and this was our major source of water during the whole journey, and there were aplenty of them en route.

By that evening we reached Thimphu town. A journey spanning 5-6 hours.
The story of Thimphu sightseeing will be discussed in the next episode. Hope you enjoy reading till here.
