BIT BY BIT
Bit by bit, things fall apart,
Breaking my body, tearing my heart.
Thought it was just my mind in pain,
But now my health feels the same.
Some words are spoken, some left unsaid,
Questions swirl inside my head.
The storm within my heart or mind—
Which one’s stronger? Can’t seem to find.

But who cares? It’s all the same,
This endless conflict, this endless game.
We comfort others, hold them tight,
Yet for ourselves, there’s no respite.
That’s the beauty, or the ache of life,
A balance between joy and strife.
They say all things happen for good,
Yet here we stand, misunderstood.
We deny, yet still, we agree,
That what will be, is meant to be.
Suffering’s all we hold, all we give,
But with each wound, we learn to live.
So here we are, and here we stand,
Shaped by pain, yet still we withstand.
That’s me, that’s you, that’s all we’ve got—
In every suffering, we find our lot.
