Hello, thank you for taking the time to view my article. It’s lovely to have you here! Let’s get started.
Yesterday, was one of those days when I was trying very hard to enhance my motivation and was continuously thinking on what different thing could I try. I believe the degree to which things might motivate us are sometimes very subjective in nature. So, I decided to prepare Halwa (a dessert dish) and explore if this could help me to increase my motivation. I had learnt to prepare Halwa a couple of months back for a Festival and had also forgotten its process to some extent. However, as I started to prepare Halwa, I came across the following observations about it and felt that those unique qualities of Halwa makes it so comprehensive and beautiful in nature:

1. Spreading Positivity-As the process of cooking Halwa starts, it begins spreading a magical fragrance by mixing and getting blended with various ingredients such as-Suji (semolina), ghee (clarified butter), jaggery/some amount of sugar, raisins, cardamon and dry fruits. Its aroma seems very soothing and also fills the entire cooking atmosphere with positivity which makes it an even more interesting process.
2. Enhancing creativity-There is no one specific recipe to make Halwa and it can be made using the combination of our most liked and suited ingredients. For instance, alternative to Suji (semolina) it can also be made using carrot (vegetable as a base), almond (dry fruit as the base), chana dal (split chickpeas as the base), moong dal (green gram as the base), atta (wheat flour as the base). Since, we can cook Halwa in various ways, this makes it a more creative and a flexible process that can be initiated based on the ingredients that are most well-suited for us.
3. Increase in Motivation-As an outcome of this positive and creative process of making Halwa, there was also an increase in motivation. This entire process felt so unique and engaging. It felt as if I had accomplished something very valuable. It created a beautiful feeling and I was also able to plan out some next set of actions for my upcoming tasks.
4. Sense of relaxation-The entire process of making Halwa had a subtle sense of soothing relaxation in it. Even though I had last prepared Halwa a couple of months ago, still I was not worried as to how would it turn out to be and what if it does not turn out to be having that same taste. I tried to focus more on the basic process that I can follow rather than continuously thinking about how would the outcome turn out to be. This thought helped me in the entire cooking process and allowed some soothing relaxation.
5. Inclusive engagement-The thought of Halwa being blended with so many diverse ingredients with the choice of the person cooking it, even makes it more inclusive in nature. It was such an interesting and engaging process that it felt like time just went by like that almost as if was already in the flow of it. The beauty of Halwa also gets more enhanced by the fact that it can get cooked and blended by a combination of a very diverse set of ingredients and materials and produce taste and fragrance as per the suitability of both-the person cooking it and for the people who wish to consume it.
I have heard it quite often, when people say that cooking something that you like is a great way to reduce some stress and create a happy state of mind and this certainly worked well. Cooking Halwa did not just increase motivation that I was trying very hard to find but it also created positivity, enhanced creativity and relaxation along with making it a very engaging process. This also made me to again realize how important is it to pause, reflect and cherish the joy of little things as a part of everyday life. These little things have in them a sense of subtle peace that can make our day and create a lasting impact whenever we need to motivate ourselves. I feel the beauty of exploring and understanding the joy in little moments of life is truly amazing and immeasurable!
Thank you so much for your time. I will catch up soon and, in the meantime, wishing you a very pleasant day ahead!
