Monetization Tools, sidebars, menus, home feed, quick search, tooltips, creator box, and more...

Those were among the few things that have recently changed. Milyin is changing aggressively in an attempt to build for the future.

Yet, that was the tip of the iceberg. This is our internal calendar for the month of January 2025.

The last few days and many of the upcoming days are bringing aggressive development to us.

Not only new additions but many old things have been removed as well. That includes Clone, My Creations, Streak Count, Refer Page, and After Content section.

Part 2 of a 3-part series discusses everything that has changed, is changing, and will change at Milyin.

Recent changes might look random initially, but there is an overarching theme: "Decluttering".

Decluttering means the removal of unwanted complications, combining related tools, optimizing design for the best use of screen real estate, and making tools more accessible.

    Removing Unwanted Complications

Complicated menus and sub-menus were clutter; we removed them in favor of direct buttons for Home, Create, Search, Chat, Notifications, and Profile.

Clone was rarely used and was thus removed.

Items and tools were arranged such that all the actions could be reached in a maximum of 3 clicks. By reducing complications, we made sure the average number of clicks per task could be reduced.so that all the actions could be reached in

Popups were also minimized. Previously Comments, Share Box, and Chat Conversations were all popups. Now, they reveal from the bottom/side, occupying more space and being relatively densely packed.

    Combining Related Tools

Similarly, My Creations and Profile had similar functionality and thus were combined.

FAQs and Help were similar in use case, thus they both were combined.

Referrals and Earnings were combined as well, due to their contextual similarity.

Chat and Notifications are directly integrated into the UI rather than needing a separate page.

    Optimised Design

On the right side, the screen real-estate is used to offer current-page-specific tools and information to minimize scroll distance wherever possible.

Dynamic Bar at the top also shows a quick notification summary for any new notifications you receive.

We used to have a Notification Bell Icon floating around, it was visually obstructive and was removed in favor of menu integration.

Scroll to Top button moved from bottom right to center top as well. Many such optimisations have improved design, boasted visibility, and mitigated accidental clicks.

    Improving Accessibility

Design optimizations include the obvious menus at the bottom/side that had the 6 most useful tools directly accessible.

The top NavBar has direct buttons for stats and earnings as well. Essentially Stats, Earnings, Chat, Search, Notifications, Profile, New Creations, and Home are available in just 1 click on any page across the platform.

Lesser-used things like Account, Password, Help, Contact, etc. remain 2 clicks away.

    What's Going On Right Now?

The changes we discussed are fairly recent and are thus considered part of the present set of upgrades. In February, our focus has been on improving reliability, fixing bugs/edge cases, and, most importantly, improving platform-wide performance.

Slow sites are known to have worse user retention and engagement. Our team is committed to fine-tuning, polishing, and detailing all the changes made to put an end to this set of development work.

    What Next?

Well, those were the things happening in the last 45-odd days. In the next Creation, I will be discussing what are the plans for the future.

Again, I am trying to be more transparent, open, and conversational. Going against my nature, I will be discussing and sharing ideas for the future, to see how the community receives it.
