When you ask online income experts for the most reliable sources of online income, they will name blogging as one of them. No wonder blogging statistics estimated internet bloggers to be about 31.7 million.

Can you imagine that? Yet, more people are itching to join them. That figure should not scare you, if you want to blog. You can still choose a profitable blog niche and succeed.

    Meaning of Blog Niche

What is a blog niche, you may ask? Blogs consist of content. These contents usually hinge around a particular area of knowledge or expertise.

That area of knowledge that you have chosen to write about is what we call a niche. For example, a travel blogger would have his content hinge on travelling because travel would become his niche.

How Bloggers Choose Profitable Blog Niches

We merely talk of profitable blog niches when we want our blogs to make us money. Those who blog for pleasure don’t talk about profitable blog niches.

I decided to write on this topic because not all blogs have the capacity to make bloggers money. Those who fail to pick profitable blog niches abandon their blogs when they fail to make the money they desire.

Therefore, if you want your blog to make you money, choosing a profitable blog niche is the hardest part of the blogging procedure.

To be successful in blogging, you must put your spirit, soul, and body into this aspect of blogging. So, be careful here.

In this way, consider the following in choosing a profitable niche when blogging:

    1. Inner passion

If you have the inner strong feeling of enthusiasm for a niche, you are bound to do well in it. The success of blogs depend on the quality of their contents. It is that strong feeling of enthusiasm that would motivate you to write prolifically on your chosen niche.

    2. Interest

Like passion, interest plays a significant role in choosing a profitable blog niche because people don’t normally do well in things they are not interested in.

Think of your school days. Were you doing well in those subjects that you were not interested in? What about games? The same thing goes for blogging. You do better in a blog niche that you are interested in.

    3. Expertise

If you already have an area of life endeavour where you are an expert, you by now have a blog niche that is profitable. The only thing that you can now do is share your understanding with the whole world. Period. You are done!

    4. Market research

If you are blogging for pleasure, you don’t need a market. You only need an audience. You only need a market once you are blogging for money. It is market research that would make known to you that people need your service area.

When you contemplate blogging, you must think about a paying audience that would make the money you need for you. Therefore, check Google Trends to see whether that niche you are concerned with is trending up or down.

If the curve is not ascending, it means such a niche has no future. Leave it and choose another one. Google Keyword Planner is another instrument that can indicate how many individuals search for items interconnected with your niche. If the volume of search is high, nod your head and go ahead by means of such a niche. It is profitable.

    5. Monetisation potentials

You have been reading content on the Internet. How do you think that these writers make their money from what you read? Have you ever paid to read content on the Internet?

The way bloggers make money from their blogs is what we call monetisation. One of them is through advertisements. That is why it is good for a good blog niche to have a high volume of search.

These people who search for what you write about are the people whom advertisers target. Would advertisers like to advertise through your blog, that is the question?

Another monetisation strategy is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketers are the people who write most reviews that you read on the Internet today. Do you think you can do the same thing in your blog? If your answer is yes, then your blog has monetisation potential.

One more way that you can monetise your blog is by selling products directly on your blog. Thus, on a blog niche that is profitable, you can sell products that are related to your niche directly on your blog.

    6. Competition

In writing about how to select a profitable blog niche, some authors would advise you to avoid niches that have high competition. I see that advice as a bad one because high competition is proof that your choice is lucrative.

Finding out how to beat your competitors hands down is the right advice. Check what they are doing and devise means of doing it better than them. Check their contents to see how many words they write. Then, devise a means of writing more words than they do.

You would be surprised that all of you would be dragging Google’s front page. In reality, a niche that has no competition is a dead, non-profitable blog niche. Going into such a niche is a mere waste of time.

    7. Evergreens

Profitable blog niches are generally evergreen niches. Trends come and go, yet evergreen niches remain in demand. If your niche is not evergreen, you may go through the rigours of choosing another niche over time.

The reason is that nobody would pay attention to what you write. Nobody would be visiting your blog. For instance, a blog on COVID-19 vaccines must be an obsolete blog by now that COVID-19 is over.

On the other hand, a blog on the wellness of people remains valid because people get sick daily till Jesus Christ comes. Consequently, be sure that the blog niche chosen by you would always be in demand, come rain, come shine.

    8. Brainstorming

Just as I am going to do for you before I end this article, check roundabout blog niche thoughts to see whether there would be one that would leap at you as you read through them.

You may notice that some of them make no sense to you as you read through them. You can’t succeed going into such a niche. If you are fascinated in any one of them, brainstorm on it and go for it. You would definitely succeed in such a niche.

    Narrowness/Broadness of blog niches

What some authors say about selecting a profitable blog niche is, “Niche down.” In other words, select a sub-niche. Good idea, but if care is not taken, you may select a sub-niche that is too narrow to develop.

In such a case, you may soon run out of ideas in writing around your niche. You may not have a market for such a niche. To me, a broad niche gives you enough room to expand to wherever you want. The market, too, would be broad.

The earning potential of such a niche might also be unlimited. However, it depends on you. You own yourself. You know how far you can go. Therefore, bite the much that you know you can chew and swallow safely. Yet, don’t starve yourself.
