Before I started my journey to become financially independent I used to think how hard can it be. I mean I have a plan and I just have to follow it and money will fall onto my lap.

    But man was I wrong!

I realized it even more when I started my own blogging website and even more with Medium. Honestly, Medium was my sure shot way. Because all you have to do is write, right? Every other thing will be handled by Medium and what’s more, Medium will reward you with money.

People nowadays are talking about how Medium is paying pennies. But even before January, I was getting pennies, not dollars. Even after producing good content if not high, I did not have enough views and even fewer reads.

What’s worse is people who follow me don’t even read my stories.

I mean why would they follow me otherwise?

I thought that because they are interested in my content now it seems like this is not the case.

Now that I am at a crossroads and even more realistic about my future, I understand the meaning of slow success.

All my life, for as long as I can remember I was chasing instant success. My mentality was I would go and work and as soon as the work is finished I will get the results.

But at present when it didn’t happen I had two choices. Either I can cry back home telling myself this is not my scene or absorb everything I can from this wreckage and move forward.

I chose the latter path and this notion came to find. I once saw an Instagram post saying

But now I think slow is much more than just building character.

It helps you evaluate your every step, not only makes you learn from your mistakes but helps you find opportunities in those mistakes. It not only gives you time to reflect but also helps you integrate all your ideas together. Ideas that you had before and ideas that you have got after making mistakes.

I learned a lot from the writers of Medium about how to write, how to edit, how to tell a story and keep learning even to this very second.

I haven’t shed my old skin. I have kept the best parts of that skin, just strip out the weak parts. And made it even better by filling the gaps with my new skin.

If you are slow in your progress do not lose hope, rather tell yourself this is a sure sign that you will achieve success. Maybe not tomorrow but one day. And when that one day comes depends completely on you.

As fast as you can bounce back from feeling sorry for yourself and start moving. The sooner that one day will come for you.

Thank you for staying until the end!
