University diaries and learning edition:wheal and flare reaction.
Learning has no age. You learn something new every moment. This got true today. Well, in case you are wondering how, then let me break it to you. I learnt a new terminology or a common phenomenon that I have seen you have seen since you had conscience. And yet I never bothered to think much about it.
So I'm talking about the wheal and flare reaction. It's basically a classic example of type 1 hypersensitivity.
We have all seen it, and now we know what we can call it.
Have you ever been bitten by a mosquito, insect, or anything in general? What do you notice?
Apart from the itching and stinging pain that arises, you must have noticed a bump and redness surrounding the bump. So the swelling is called a wheal, and the redness is a flare.

Quite an interesting term for something that we daily see.
