Before You Held me

Fast-paced road runner,

life's a race,

chasing down a name

with five bucks and some change,

not much, but I've got a plan—

elbows out, taking in the land,

Forty yards from that tree,

if I can make it, I'll be free.

It’s darker in the middle,

but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,

No distractions—

keep moving, stay in action.

Stepping out from the treeline—

it’s a trap, losing time,

did you hear your foot crack

when they tried to stop you in your tracks?

I'm scared, can’t turn back.

Screaming in the dark,

as the edge of the cliff looms near,

heart full of fear,
