A lost person is someone who feels their life has no meaning or purpose. This can cause them to feel disconnected from society, leading to feelings of isolation and even a sense of worthlessness.
Obsession makes us focus intensely on an idea, object, or person. Over time, these obsessive thoughts often become unrealistic. This narrow focus can cause us to ignore other important parts of life.
A victim identity makes people focus on their feelings of hurt and powerlessness instead of their strengths, resilience, and ability to grow. This mindset can lead to a sense of entitlement, dependence on others to manage emotions, and desires for revenge.
Ideology often develops as a reaction to these feelings. It is reinforced by confirmation bias, causing people to see those with different views as enemies.
Narcissism creates a sense of being flawless, superior, and entitled, often with little empathy for others. While narcissism has always been present, it has increased in the digital age. Social media, intended for connection, often boosts narcissistic behaviors by encouraging self-promotion and focusing on superficial appearances.
The decline of empathy traps us in our own self-centered worlds.
All these factors can weaken the fundamental values that shape us as individuals and communities. When justice is sought with such perspectives, it shifts away from fairness and becomes driven by revenge and self-interest.
