10 Life-Changing Self-DiscoveriesÂ
1. Sometimes, in our desire to secure a better future, we overlook the simple things we should be enjoying now. When will we enjoy life—when we are weak and old? Our strength at that time will be different from what it is now. -Ember Rage
2. The most painful feeling is not “failing to express” our love to the people close to our hearts, but “regretting not having expressed” it when they are gone or have left our lives. Â -Ember Rage
3. Even if we bring flowers to our loved ones when they die, not appreciating them when they are alive is useless. Our tears and apologies are pointless when they are no longer here. And our hesitation in expressing our love to them is a nightmare we will carry for the rest of our lives. -Ember Rage
4. Sometimes, it takes us so long to realize that we should pursue our dreams. Here we are now, finally finding the determination to start working on the dreams we’ve ignored for so long because we were afraid they wouldn’t succeed. We’ve been focused on whether they would be liked or appreciated by others, and what if they’re not? We forgot that people are never satisfied. No matter what we do, there will always be those who won’t appreciate our gift. Only we and God will know its true value. -Ember Rage
5. Sometimes we feel left behind because our progress is so slow. We might have thought we could have been successful and secure by now. Then suddenly, we realize it wasn’t true. We realize we’ve been focusing on lifting up someone important to us first. We also learn that while we focus on helping others succeed, God is preparing a beautiful life for us. So, let’s not get tired and aim to have good intentions despite our efforts to be a blessing to others. -Ember Rage
6. The more we rush to achieve what we want in life, the less happy we become and the less we appreciate it once we have it. We cannot bypass the process and challenges we face in life because they are the key to molding us into the people who will appreciate the things we most desire once they are achieved. -Ember Rage
7. Sometimes we feel hurt or resentful when we think our loved ones don’t appreciate the efforts we make for them. But have you ever thought that, many times in our lives, we haven’t appreciated the things that God has done for us too? Notice how, for a very long time, He has been focused on us, supporting us, and preventing distractions so that we can achieve our goals in life. But when we reach our dreams, sometimes we become proud of ourselves and forget that the wisdom that became tools for us to achieve what we want in life did not come from our own abilities but from God’s help. Did He complain during those times that we didn’t thank Him and appreciate Him? No. So before we feel hurt or draw conclusions in our minds about the things we do for our loved ones in life, let’s not forget to appreciate how God works in our lives. -Ember Rage
8. Sometimes, we encounter individuals who become part of our lives and demand things from us that they cannot give in return. You have two choices: embrace unconditional love, which is love without conditions or expectations, or embrace transactional love, which involves giving and receiving based on expected returns or benefits. There is no wrong choice between the two. You don’t need to be confused. Base your decision on your own beliefs, experiences, and life principles, not on “what they want you to do for them” or on “the suggestions of many.” Be kind but do not allow yourself to be taken advantage of by people who are takers and do not know how to give. -Ember Rage
9. Sometimes, we can’t help but get frustrated in life. The reason we work hard to improve ourselves, be good people, learn how to get along with different kinds of people, and respect differences and various cultures is because we also want to meet or attract people with similar personalities. But life works the opposite way. That’s not usually what happens. The more good qualities we have, the more we attract people who are the opposite of what we are. There’s a reason why God allows this to happen to us and allows us to encounter this. It’s because that’s when the true nature of our hearts and our real personalities come out. In these kinds of situations, it’s difficult to fake our true selves because our true behavior and true selves will show in interactions with people who are opposite to what we expect. That’s when we truly discover our authentic selves. -Ember Rage
10. I realized that success in life is not just about achieving our goals, awards, acquiring wealth, or material things. There is a deeper success that we often do not consider as success, yet it is one of the most significant successes in our lives. It is the thing that you have been keeping hidden, unable to say or express because you lack the courage to do so. When you find the courage to express this, it can be considered a deep success, especially if it has helped change someone’s life, become their motivation, and become their biggest life testimony. Let us not belittle the small things that we think have no value because those simple things may unexpectedly change someone else’s life. -Ember Rage
