THE ADVANTAGES OF SPINSTERHOOD
Often, our society views spinsters as women to be pitied. But I have a differing opinion. In this article, I will be explaining why I think spinsterhood is the best choice, by expanding upon its multiple advantages.
Physical advantages:
Spinsters don’t have to waste their physical labour in household matters like cooking, or cleaning, in order to please their partners, or their children. [I am well-aware that some households have maids and servants for this purpose; but, it’s not the case for the majority population of our world.] Spinsters also don’t have to wear make-up or clothes which make them uncomfortable, in order to be eye/arm candies for their husbands at parties, social events, or gatherings. They don’t have to endure the extremely torturous pain of giving birth to children. They don’t have to waste their efforts in taking care of their children after their birth, or with regards to their education. They also don’t have to face restrictions on their freedom of physical mobility.
Spinsters can dress, and look as they please. Nobody can question them. They also don’t have certain social expectations placed on them, like our married women. Nobody can question them regarding the clutter or mess they left in their house or room, either. They can eat what they desire, unlike married women who have to consider the wishes and the health of their husbands and children. Spinsters enjoy the freedom of going anywhere they please, at any time they please.
Financial advantages:
Spinsters have the luxury of spending all the money they earn, entirely on themselves. They don’t have to contribute their money to taking care of family needs. The lack of monetary responsibilities, gives spinsters the opportunity to save a lot of their income; which will be helpful to them in the future. Also, there’s no one to impose restrictions on how their money is spent, which gives them greater financial freedom. They can also buy the things they desire, as they don’t have put away a part of their earnings in favour of spending it on their partners or children.
They can also achieve higher success in their careers; as spinsters don’t have to take leaves caused by reasons related to their husbands or kids; for instance, the children being sick, and needing care from their mother.
Emotional advantages:
Spinsters don’t have to compromise their personalities, or change themselves to suit the needs of their husbands or children. They don’t have to constantly worry about what would make their partner or children happy. Instead, they can focus on taking care of themselves first, and prioritizing their needs; rather than sacrificing their happiness for others.
They don’t need to stress themselves out. For instance, when commuting back from work, instead of thinking about what next meal to prepare, to satisfy their partner or children; they can relax themselves by listening to music, or watching entertaining videos. They also don’t have to put efforts into understanding their partners; or be upset over not feeling understood by them, to the point of crying bitter tears.

Advantages related to time-management:
Not having husbands, or children, saves a lot of time. For example, you don’t have to wait for your husband or children to get out of the shower In the mornings, in order to take a shower yourself. This will help you be on time to your work, and will definitely help you boost your career. You don’t even have to waste time in leaving notes for your partners, regarding where you went, or when you’ll be coming back. You also don’t have to waste time in calling or texting your partner, for hours upon hours.
They also don’t have to spend time on household chores, as I mentioned, or even maintaining the house, by keeping financial records, or keeping tabs on the servants, or taking care of the utensils in the house. All this saved time can be used in a way which will be more beneficial to them, thereby helping them further their own aims and goals.
In conclusion, spinsterhood is an empowering choice, which grants a lot of freedom and advantages to the women in our society. The society shouldn’t look at our spinsters as unfortunate, as many of them are spinsters as a result of their own choice. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
