As the sun sets on another day,

The night grows dark and cold,

The shadows stretch across the sky,

And a chill settles in my soul.

The wind blows softly through the trees,

A mournful song it sings,

I hear the words it whispers,

And it tells of tragic things.

Of lovers torn apart by fate,

Of hopes that turned to dust,

Of dreams that shattered in the night,

Lost, like ashes in the gust.

Of promises unkept,

Of tears that fell like rain,

Of hearts that beat with sorrow,

And love that caused such pain.

The night grows darker still,

I feel the shadows close,

I hear the whispered words again,

“All things must come to an end.”

But though the night is dark and cold,

And sorrow fills the air,

I know that hope still burns within,

That light can pierce the dark,

That even though the night is long,

The morning’s not so far,

And in the end, love conquers all,

The brightest star will rise,

The dawn will come,

And love will conquer hate,

For hope and joy will overcome,

And joy will reign, in love’s domain.

Though the road is long and hard,

And though the night is bleak,

I know that dawn will come again,

And the darkness will recede.

The shadows will be pushed aside,

As light shines through the gloom,

And love will triumph over all,

As we are carried home.
