Finally Mahindra launched the all new 2WD THAR in Indian market at a starting price of 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-spec variant of this SUV is priced at 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The all new variants includes rear wheel drive with both petrol and diesel engine options.
(Note:- The introductory prices of the new versions of the SUV is only applicable for the first 10,000 bookings.)

The new entry level variants of the model is available in three variant with two new colour options and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. The new colour options of the Mahindra thar 2WD are Blazing Bronze and Everest White.
The petrol variant of the Mahindra Thar will get the same 2.0-litre mStallion Turbo Engine which produces 150bhp power and 320Nm torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. On the other side the diesel variants of the new Thar RWD come powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing the power of 117bhp and 300Nm torque.
Meanwhile the 4WD powertrain line-up remains unchanged. The petrol variant of the 4WD powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi engine which produces 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. And the diesel variant comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk 130 engine which produces 130bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Both the engine options are offered with six- speed manual transmission and six- speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The 4WD variants of this SUV now comes with an electronic brake locking differential but the mechanical locking differential will available as a option in (4WD diesel LX) variant.
