A Path to Financial Independence

Despite coming from modest roots, I took the daring choice to become a billionaire when I was only 20 years old. However, as I’ll tell you, choosing this choice was simply the first step on a long and complicated path to success.

I was aware that I would have to make some significant sacrifices if I really wanted to become financially successful. And I’ll tell you, it wasn’t an easy task. But everything paid out in the end.

I’m going to tell you about the ten things I had to give up in order to realize my goal of becoming a billionaire.

1. Offer Up Your Material Goods

I adhered to a rigid policy for more than 10 years: I would not purchase anything until it was absolutely necessary for my life or company. That meant avoiding showy equipment, high-end clothing, and expensive watches. My guiding principle was to earn money, invest the majority of it, and manage the remainder.

Yes, even though we made more money than most people, there were moments when my wife and I were completely breaking. However, it is because we invested practically all of our income. Although giving up tangible goods was difficult, it was a tiny price to pay for our future financial independence. In the end, which would you choose to be: a sheep with no honor for the rest of your days, or a lion for a day and be revered for a lifetime?

In the words of Robert Kiyosaki, “Rich people buy luxuries last while poor people buy luxuries first.”

You must have the self-control to forgo fleeting pleasures and invest a sizeable portion of your money if you want to amass riches.

Enhance Your Circle

Spending time with individuals who don’t motivate you to be your best self is a waste of your short life. I thus decided to sever links with the really impoverished – those lacking in ambition. It just makes you feel worse to hang around with people who moan and provide justifications.

You won’t be ambitious if you associate with unambitious individuals. You’ll think the same way if you associate with folks who wait till the economy improves before becoming wealthy. It’s time to broaden your social circle and associate with ambitious individuals.

3. Minimize using social media and TV.

In my whole life, I have never purchased a television, and last year, I deactivated my lone social media account. Yet why? It’s really rather easy. Television and social media are much too entertaining for their own good. If you want to be wealthy, you must be cautious about things that divert your attention since anything that is too appealing and doesn’t generate income is really stealing it away from you.

Because it’s intriguing, you can sit in front of the TV for hours on end or often check your Facebook and Instagram accounts. The issue with this is that actual life is often difficult and nasty. You must be ready to act and be willing to do tough things if you want to be wealthy. So, should you delete every social media account you have? No. Should you cut down on your TV and social media use, though? Yes, if you want to be wealthy.

4. Sleep Less, Achieve More: The Easy Success Principle

Let’s face it, everyone enjoys sleeping. We can’t resist the allure of the cozy embrace of our blankets and the sensation of falling asleep. But in order to achieve in life, you must give up part of your restful slumber. While I’m not advocating getting up at the crack of dawn, you should aim to sleep less or rise earlier than the majority of people. It’s a straightforward maxim that may provide you an advantage in daily life. So, don’t be scared to give up some sleep in order to achieve your ambitions.

Now, I’m not recommending that you reduce your sleep time to three hours every night. That would be absurd. However, you may want to think again if you’re one of those folks who sleeps for nine hours every day. The ability to sacrifice some sleep may make a huge difference in your ability to succeed. Ask yourself, “Is this worth sacrificing my dreams for?” the next time you find yourself sleeping through the morning. The decision, my friend, is yours to make.

5. Drop the Accusation Game

The government, the economy, and everyone’s parents appeared to be the main culprits for everyone’s problems as I was growing up. But when I turned 17, I made the decision to shake this way of thinking. Blaming others may temporarily improve your mood, but it won’t help you address your issues. Take complete control of your life and quit depending on others to make things right for you if you really want to succeed.

Nobody will really offer you success on a silver platter, that much is true. Roll up your sleeves, get to work, and be prepared to make some sacrifices if you want to realize your aspirations. So stop blaming others and concentrate on what you can change. You may open up a world of opportunities and accomplish things you never imagined were possible by taking ownership of your life.

6. Overcoming Fear

A turning point in my life was when I started my path into entrepreneurship. Despite my overwhelming anxiety, I realized I had to act if I wanted to succeed. There were times when I started to question my ability to achieve.

I chose, however, to consciously set aside my fear of failing. I promised myself that rather than continue to live in poverty, I would rather die trying. I came to the conclusion that I had to confront failure with no fear if I wanted to become rich. Whether we choose to take chances or not, failure is a part of life. Therefore, why not face our anxieties and pursue our goals?

Life is too brief to let fear control your actions. Instead, you should face your concerns head-on and go forward with confidence. Although the corporate world might be intimidating, you can overcome it by letting go of your fear of failing.

Even if you fail, you will learn essential lessons that will help you in the future, so you should find solace in that. So, don’t let your anxieties stop you. Take that risk and see where it leads you. Even though the route is unclear, the benefits are well worth the danger.

7. Ignore get-rich-quick schemes and shortcuts

You cannot create a kid next month by impregnating nine women today, as Warren Buffet astutely observed.

Although it’s a comical example, the point is nonetheless made: positive things take time. Even while overnight successes are sometimes romanticized, they typically result from many hours of toil and effort. You must be persistent and patient if you want to be affluent. It won’t occur immediately, next month, or even the next year.

Therefore, give up hunting for shortcuts or get-rich-quick scams. Although they can look alluring, they often result in a harder and longer path. Instead, concentrate on taking baby steps to establish a strong basis for your achievement. As they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” You may realize your aspirations and reach your objectives with commitment and tenacity.

8. Get Past Self-Doubt

What’s more cool than being cool? achieving your objectives What’s even cooler, though? being aware that others who are similar to you have previously done it. So, don’t allow a lack of confidence prevent you from succeeding. Don’t allow doubts prevent you from becoming wealthy, particularly during difficult circumstances. Instead, stop throwing yourself a pity party and embrace the strong, unstoppable version of you that is capable of changing the world.

It’s time to give up your self-doubt rather than your aspirations. The new you is more than up to the task. You can do everything you put your mind to if you have an optimistic outlook, work hard, and are persistent.

9. Read Rich or Try to Get Rich

Although your school may have taught you history and mathematics, they did not educate you how to become wealthy. It’s unfortunate, but fortunately there are many financial experts who have achieved financial success and are eager to divulge their secrets. I began reading financial books for this reason when I was 17 and haven’t stopped since.

Now, I am aware that books may not seem like the most fascinating things ever, but believe me when I say that they are worth it. You must take advice from individuals who have previously attained financial independence if you want to achieve it yourself. Therefore, don’t belittle books since they could improve your life.

10. You Can’t Get Rich on Free Rides

https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/0*DcHM2UCQGfxqjBFl

Simply said, the notion of a “easy life” is a fallacy. I’m sorry to bust your bubble, but life is hard and it’s not going to get any better. But here’s the thing: you’ve got to be prepared to put in the effort rather than looking for a free ride to wealth. Because it’s a basic fact that you won’t get wealthy if you’re unwilling to pay the price.

So fasten your seatbelts and prepare to roll up your sleeves because the path to success is paved with tenacity and perseverance. Be prepared to put in some effort if you don’t expect success to come to you easily. You can do everything you set your mind to if you have the appropriate attitude and are prepared to put in the necessary effort.
