“”What is the greatest pain, sir?”
“Well, what do you think?”
“Hm. I would have to say that the greatest pain would be someone doing something unspeakable to me.”
“You are close. The greatest pain is caused by yourself, doing something unspeakable to yourself.”
“What do you mean?”
“Self-betrayal is the greatest form of damage you can cause to yourself. To stray away from your calling, what you know yourself to be, in order to conform to the flowery words of validations of others who know close to nothing on how to regulate you. When you betray yourself, you can no longer trust yourself. You will never know your own value unless someone else labels a value onto you. In life, there will always be pain and suffering. In life, in order to obtain what you truly desire, you must be willing to experience its direct opposite. If you wish to become strong, you will feel weak as you train. If you wish to become rich, you will feel poor as you save and invest. If you wish to become knowledgeable, you will feel stupid as you learn new things. So, if you wish to be loved and understood, how can you expect someone else to do it for you, if you are unable to do it for yourself? Both paths are horrific, but one ends and the other lasts a lifetime. The question is whether you’ll betray yourself for others, or if you’ll betray others for yourself.”
“So the cost of loving myself and to be understood, is to become lonely?”Â
“Just as a small caterpillar encases itself to transform into a majestic butterfly, so must we.”
“…”
“For the strongest people, are those who embrace themselves and rebirth into the person they truly desire to be.””
